Plastic Pigment Organic Pigment Yellow 12 Benzidine Yellow G

PIGMENT POWDER / Pigment Yellow

While Pigment Yellow 12 (Benzidine Yellow G) remains a cost-effective workhorse for coloration due to its high tinctorial strength, it is fundamentally flawed for modern plastic applications by severe migration issues and hazardous thermal instability. In plasticized PVC and polyolefins, it exhibits significant “blooming” and bleeding, readily contaminating adjacent surfaces. Critically, its thermal ceiling is low (approx. 200°C); processing temperatures exceeding this limit during injection molding or extrusion trigger thermal decomposition. This cleavage not only destroys the color shade but releases 3,3′-dichlorobenzidine (DCB), a regulated carcinogen, rendering the pigment non-compliant with strict safety standards such as FDA food contact regulations and EN71-3 for toys.
